Energy Labeling of Domestic Appliances in Households

2003/66/EC

The Energy Labeling directive tackles the growing energy consumption of household appliances. The purpose of the directive is to draw the consumer’s attention to the actual energy consumption of the appliances and set minimum standards for household appliances.

The Euro Label in the form of a colored arrow has been in use uniformly throughout the EU since 1998, providing information on energy consumption (classification: A to G). The EU revised these efficiency classes in 2004 with Energy Labeling of Domestic Appliances in Households directive 2003/66/EC. The old energy efficient classes were retained and new top classes, A+ and A++, were added.
